snow melt contest

But first, did she create a monster? (or did she just enable the one that already exists?)
3bobbins2 3bbobbins1

One pound of spun wool, empty roving bag, sad new spinner
emptybag

One of the other things we did at Pogo’s was to check out her shop. Which had a bargain bin. How could I resist? Mostly it is samples spun up to show color of roving.

So to share… A two part contest.

Part 1, winner gets
fiber 028 fiber 044
a single ply, I like the red slub! (that’s two pics of one skein, the color is someplace between the two pics)

AND

fiber 030
pretty sure this is friendz blendz, Pogo says she can’t get that background color anymore (not sure if she means the light or dark color)

I think these are 2 ounce skeins.  I made a pair of Maine Morning Mitts from a similar (same?) size skein of friendz blendz and had lots left over.

Here’s the contest:

Tell me when you think this pile of snow will be all gone. Send me a comment in this post. Part 1 winner will be randomly drawn from the entries. Deadline for entry, let’s say Friday April 4, 6 pm eastern time. Part 2 winner will be the one who correctly guesses when the snow will be all gone.

On the left, Feb 29; on the right Mar 26.

It has snowed since. Last year I think the pile went away in mid-June. I will know it is all gone because I drive my car by it every morning. I’ll count my morning observations as knowing when it’s gone (technically I may be off here by as much as, say, 23 hours, but it’s my contest, right?), because I don’t see the bottom of the pile on my way home.

I went to bed feeling wool fly between my fingers and my butt make the little up and down motions from my feet on the wheel pedals……

    I’ll guess June 26th. That’s Dale’s birthday so it’s a lucky day around here.

I’ll be the black sheep and say May 29th!

Yup! Spinnin’s wicked addictive, ain’t it deah! You’re doing do great!

I finished my mermaid tails last night. I’ll post photos as soon as it’s dry.
I was hoping for sock weight, but I think it’s too thin! This is only my 4th skein,
so I’m pretty impressed if I do say so myself! LOL

Went to a sheep farm yesterday to see the baby lambs and came home with two bags of
assorted puffs of merino all different colors called ‘all mixed up’. Can’t wait
to see how it spins up!

Hmm… it’s been a cold March, which tempts me to go long… but this is New England, where the weather can turn on a dime just to be contrarian. I’ll split the difference between solstice and Fiber Frolic and say June 15. (I was going to say the 14th, but Amy beat me to it.)

This is depressing. I never heard of snow leaving so late. I have a big pile too and was hoping it would go in April. Think again, eh? Okay, I’ll take June 24, my daugher’s 38th birthday, but I hope I’m way too late.

You are a woman possessed. My hometown newspaper is having a similar contest, without the cool yarn prize. I’ll say July 14, Bastille Day.

I’ll say September 1st – Labor Day. Just kidding, although it feels that way. I’ll say June 6th just because.

Look at all those singles! Way to go woman :)

Very nice. So, are you going to ply your singles, or leave them as is? And do you think one can spin cat hair with a staple length of only 1 inch? You know the little white crittur of whom I speak. His undercoat is lovely fine stuff (and takes dye very well, as evidenced by the tale of the blue tail), but I’m thinking too short. I’ll guess June 20, just because it’s solstice, and what better way to celebrate summer than to say goodbye to snow.

Man, that’s a lotta snow! We’ve had such mild winters here in DC, I had forgotten what snow looked like. Okay my guess is–June 18th. I don’t think that one’s been picked yet.

Hmmm. with the weather we have had!! (44 degrees the other day and sunny yet it snowed quite hard twice and hailed twice! Covered the folks at opening day for mariners baseball, lol) That makes me think late june early july…but i am optimistic that summer will be good this year, need a good garden year after the short one last season! So I guess June 19th (the 19 year anniversary of my getting kicked in the chest by a horse!)Lol, that kind of makes me start to feel old! *grin

Sorry to add this to a post with so many comments already, but I have news to share. I’ve been offered a job! It’s with Advanta, a credit card company, and it sounds like a lot of fun. If there’s knit night this evening, tell everyone hi for me?
