April snow and a bit of knitting
April 3rd, 2007 by knitnzuThis is what we woke up to (the pics are dark because they were taken at 6:30 am!),
Most years we get some snow after the forsythia and daffodils have bloomed.
Julie is asking if you can make an 8 inch square so she can make a blanket for her friend Betty (post here). I started this,
…right at this moment I am being serenaded by dh, the blogging blues. distracting but amusing…
The pattern is the tortoise stitch from Mon Tricot Knitting Encyclopedia 1500 patterns. Since I can’t find a link to either on line, here’s the pattern (adapted because they use wrn and m1 interchangeably within the same line to mean a yo)
purl all even rows, it’s a 12 row pattern
R1: *K1. yo, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo* k1
R3 & 9: *k2, yo, k3, yo, k1* k1
R5: k2tog *yo, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso* (for last set, sl1, k1, psso)
R7: *k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, sl1, k1, psso* k1
Row 11: *k1, k2tog, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, sl1, k1, psso* k1
My Uncle passed away over the weekend, so I didn’t feel much like flashing the stash. He was a true gentleman. He taught me to fish as a kid. I have fond memories with him, grampy, and my cousin who is about my age, all in the little skiff (it was more of a narrow, long, rowboat) fishing for flounder. So, tell someone you love that you love them. Plant something or create something for someone you love who has gone.
